Celebrating research excellence and early career success!
Last week, Dr Ali Tabatabaeian represented MMRG at the Artificial Intelligence for Composite Materials Conference (AIComp25) in Bristol, UK, where he delivered an engaging presentation on his research. His talk showcased part of his PhD work, exploring how Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) can be applied to automate the detection of Barely Visible Impact Damage (BVID) in advanced Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites—a critical step towards smarter, more efficient inspection methods. Adding to the excitement, Ali was honoured with the prestigious Elsevier Early Career Researchers Sponsorship, a highly competitive award presented by the conference’s scientific committee.
