Ali is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Systems, Power, and Energy division at the University of Glasgow. He became a member of the Materials & Manufacturing Research Group in 2021 while pursuing a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering. His doctoral research focused on the development of lightweight bio-inspired composites for structural health monitoring (SHM) applications. Following the completion of his Ph.D. in 2024, Ali began work on an EPSRC-funded project titled "Induction Melt Incremental Thermoforming of Advanced Thermoplastic Composites," which he is currently engaged in. Ali's research interests lie in the experimental and computational mechanics of composite materials and structures, and his work has led to the publication of over 40 scientific papers in various international journals and conferences.
